Happy and honored: Neil Diamond gets engaged to his manager

Music legend Neil Diamond announced on Twitter Wednesday that he’s about to be married for the third time, to producer/manager Katie McNeil, 40. The 70-year-old singer has announced his happy news on twitter and admitted he is completely “love-struck“.

“Good news coming from sunny LA/ and you’re the first I want to tell/ Katie &I just got engaged/ and I hope you wish us well”-he tweeted.

He later posted a photo of his future wife, who was executive producer on the 2009 documentary about him, entitled Neil Diamond: Hot August Night NYC.

Neil Diamond (now engaged) was previously married to his high school sweetheart Jayne Posner, and later to production assistant Marcia Murphey. The 70 year-old has two children with each, Marjorie and Elyn, from his marriage with Jayne and two sons, Jesse and Micah, with ex-wife Marcia.

It was also announced on Wednesday that Neil Diamond will be recognised for his contribution to US culture at the Kennedy Centre honours in December.

“I’ve watched, and I’ve seen, and I’ve even dreamed that someday that would happen to me, but I never really believed that it would”-he said.

Neil Diamond will be honoured alongside actress Meryl Streep, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Broadway star Barbara Cook and saxophonist Sonny Rollins at the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington.
