The resemblance is evident: Jessica Chastain and late Princess Diana
Hollywood‘s new “it girl” Jessica Chastain will play Princess Diana in an upcoming biopic named Caught in Flight, about her secret affair with a Pakistani surgeon. Late in her life, Diana had an alleged affair with Dr. Hasnat Kahn, and it’s this period that the film is set to cover. The film is described as a “love story between a princess locked in a tower and an ordinary man.”
Jessica Chastain was basically in every single Oscar-baiting role this year, from a sad, wise housewife in The Tree of Life to a sad, dumb housewife in The Help.
Caught in Flight will be filmed in a variety of locations including Pakistan, Angola, the South of France, England and of course Paris, where Princess Diana died shortly after the end of her alleged affair with Kahn.
The surgeon revealed his two-year relationship with Diana to The Telegraph in 2008. Reportedly the princess met Dr. Hasnat at the Royal Brompton Hospital in 1995 when she was visiting a friend who was recovering from heart surgery.
Caught in Flight featuring Jessica Chastain, is likely to be controversial, since it will examine a side of Princess Diana’s life that doesn’t necessarily fit with the fairytale version of her life. Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, boipic’s pre-production is set to begin in March 2012 with a $15 million budget.
