Keep singing: Pete Doherty dedicates his new song to late singer Amy Winehouse

The former Libertines frontman Pete Doherty performed a track he’d written for Amy Winehouse at his last gig for a ‘long time’ at London‘s Brixton Academy. As a close friend of Amy Winehouse, he also dedicated the show to the singer, who died in July, before unveiling the new song.

“Amy Winehouse asked me a while ago if I had written any new songs. I played her something, and when I had finished, she looked at me and said, ‘Is that it? Is that all you’ve got.”

“I want to dedicate this show to the memory of Robin Whitehead and Amy Winehouse, two good friends of mine. Here’s a song I wrote for Amy.”-Pete Doherty said.

The song was a slow, acoustic led number, and although the lyrics were hard to make out they include the line “oh Amy, she won’t be around tonight.” Pete Doherty has been very candid about his struggle to come to terms with the Amy’s death, and told The People newspaper last month that he was “…struggling with everything because I’m so bewildered about what happened to Amy.”

“I was in bed when I heard the news of her death. Someone had to wake me up to tell me. I couldn’t take it in and still can’t. Coming to terms with what has happened is almost impossible. It’s hard to think she’s not with us anymore.”-the singer said.

The singer dedicates a beautiful ballad to his late friend: Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty were very close.

Late singer Amy Winehouse was worth an estimated £2million at the time of her death, but had reportedly previously been worth £15million.

The ‘Rehab’ singer had two companies, Cherry Westfield and CW Touring, and the accounts have been published. According to the annual account records, Cherry Westfield was worth £2,004,963 at the end of November 2010, while CW Touring was worth £8,032.

Following Amy Winehouse’s untimely passing, her father Mitch Winehouse is planning to set up a rehab charity in her memory, with the headquarters set to be at her £2.5 million worth home.

“It could include help for children in trouble, kids suffering health problems, children’s hospices and more. We want to make a positive difference.”-Amy’s dad said.

The 27 year-old Amy Winehouse battled drink and drugs addictions in her lifetime (the reason for her early death). Her excessive lifestyle could have been partly to blame for the drop, combined with the fact that she was very generous with her friends.
